Amigurumi Pattern: Teru Teru Bozu 晴天娃娃钩针图解

Teru Teru Bozu 晴天娃娃

These adorable teru teru bozu bring a smile to my face. So I decided to share the crochet pattern to spread the happiness. Crochet one for yourself or your friends & family to make their days too! This is a very quick but cute project, something you can finish while watching the TV.

Materials:

  • Acrylic yarn - White (I used the yarn from Daiso, a japanese dollar store)
  • Pink & blue yarn (can be any colors as this is to be used for tying a ribbon for the teru teru bozu)
  • Stuff of your choice (I normally prefer polyfill)
  • One pair of black beads / plastic eyes (size of your choice)
  • Black & red embroidery floss

Tools:

  • Crochet hook size D (or any crochet hooks suitable for the yarn you use)
  • Tapestry needle & Sewing needle for yarn

Abbreviation:
R = Round
ch = chain
sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet
st = stitch
inc = increase (2sc in a stitch)
dec = decrease (2sc off together)
sl st = slip stitch(es)
* = repeat directions between * and * as many as indicated
() = number of stitches in each round

NOTES:
1) Work in continuous spiral round; do not join rounds unless otherwise stated. Mark first stitch of each round.
2) To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.

Teru teru bozu x 1 (white colour)
Start with white color; make adjustable ring / magic loop
R1Using the magic loop technique and white yarn, sc 6 in a circle
R2: *inc 1*, repeat 6 times (12)
R3: *sc 1, inc 1*, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: *sc 2, inc 1*, repeat 6 times (24)
R5: *sc 3, inc 1*, repeat 6 times (30)
R6 - R10: 1 sc in each stitch (30)
R11: *sc3, dec1*, repeat 6 times (24)

R12*sc2, dec1*, repeat 6 times (18)
R13*sc1, dec1*, repeat 6 times (12) <start stuffing polyfill>
R14*dec 1*, repeat 6 times (6)
R15*inc 1*, repeat 6 times (12)
R16 *sc 1, inc 1*, repeat 6 times (18)
R17 *sc 2, inc 1*, repeat 6 times (24)
R18 *sc 5, inc 1*, repeat 4 times (28)
R19*sc 6, inc 1*, repeat 4 times (32)
R20 - R211 sc in each stitch (32)
R22*sc 7, inc 1*, repeat 4 times (36)
R23*sc 5, inc 1*, repeat 6 times (42)
R241 sc in each stitch (42)
R25: The tricky part to make the skirt *sc 1, skip 2 stitches, inc 7 with double crochet, skip 2 stitches*, then continue with *sc 1, skip 2 stitches....* repeat 7 times.

Close with sl st, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave tail through last round and gather tightly. Knot to secure.

Sew the black beads as eyes & add a smile to your teru teru bozu. Add some blushers if you want a blushing / sunburnt bozu.

Ta-dah!! You are done!!!
