How I Use the Exclusive Happie Scrappie Inserts

Hello friends! Its Ruthie here sharing with you how I have used the exclusive goodies in the September Happie Scrappie planner kit.  First off, I used the box inserts as my main weekly inserts.  The number of boxes were perfect for the days of the week.  I used the Joyful Planning stamping set from Marryl Crafts to date them-the size of the stamps were also perfect for the size of the boxes.  The boxes are a good size for keeping track of important events during the week.  It serves as an overview of my week, since I mostly use daily inserts to keep track of day to day stuff.
One of the perks of subscribing to the happiescrappie newsletter is she offers exclusive codes, sales and free printables!  This month she included a printable for an A5 and personal size planner.  I printed the personal size freebie, and I started using it as a daily to do list.  It can serve many purposes-a place to jot down just about anything!
Also included in this kit was a super cute calendar notepad.  It seems perfect for tracking monthly goals such as no-spend months or exercise routines.  I considered using it as a countdown for Halloween as well!!  What I love is that it fits in my pocket and mini sized planners as well.
Everything from the inserts to the stickers to the cute charm Sam created was so well coordinated.  I’ve always said that one of the things that I love about her monthly kits is that everything matches so well which makes for an easy planner set-up and decoration!
Hope you have enjoyed this kit as much as I have.  As always, thanks for reading! Happie Planning!!

XOXOX,
Ruthie

Using the August Kit in my Agenda

Hello! It’s Ruthie (@threadofhearts) sharing with you how I’ve used the August Happie Planner Kit.  This month was a make-up theme which was super girly and cute!  The illustrations by Sarazorel (IG: @sarazorel) were beautiful and the journaling cards were some of my favorite to date (I probably say that every month)!  First off, the dashboard is gorgeous.  I love that the quote is the first thing I see as I open my agenda.

The journaling cards are so beautiful that I’ve used them throughout my agenda simply as decoration.  I used a post it note with a side tab to avoid having to hole-punch the actual card.  It’s a trick I picked up somewhere in the planner world.  ;)

To get the most out of my inserts, I decided to cut some of them in half.  My to-do list is usually not too long, and by cutting them I can repurpose the bottom half.  I usually stamp on a header and use them randomly for groceries, errands, or goals.

One of my favorite things to make for planners are pockets.  You can never have too many of them!!  For this month, I used two of the punched inserts to create one.  I simply cut one of the inserts diagonally and attached it on top of another insert.  To attach them you can sew them or use glue/double sided tape.  Easy Peasy!!  Cute and functional!!

For this kit, Sam also included a cute pack of sticky notes.  I simply laminated one and its now being used to hold some of my favorite washitape !  It can also be used as a small page marker in your planner or as a bookmark in your favorite book.

I hope you have enjoyed this post!  I always have fun opening up the kit and trying to figure out ways of incorporating it into my planner.  I’m hoping next month I can set-up my Happiedori!!  As always, feel free to tag me in your Instagram photos to show me how you’ve used up your planner goodies.  “Happie” planning friends!

XOXO

August Planning with Bel

Hello! I'm so excited to be sharing my August planner set up with you here on the HappieScrappie blog today.

Most of you may know me as Bel or @Thatsitreally over on Instagram or "Bella Baker" over on FaceBook; If not please do pop by to say hi!

I've been a big fan of the travelersnote book system since 2012, when I bought my first Midori, so I was thrilled when Sam said she would be introducing a Travels HappiePlanner kit!

I recently purchased a beautiful leather dori from a wonderful lady called Cindy, whom I met through Sam. Cindy, the owner of Pelle_studio Etsy store helped my narrow down my choice to an "extra wide, regular, Seafoam, Pelledori with white stitching and I couldn't  be happier with it, it's absolutely gorgeous!

Not only is the shade on of my all time favourite colours, but the blue goes perfectly with all of the HappieScrappie TN kits to date!

August saw the end if the summer holidays here in Central Scotland and the beginning of a new school term.  So everything went from lazy to crazy pretty quickly!

I decided I was going to use my May kit, cloud and hot air balloon themed notebook. I love the versatility of a blank page and because I can't write straight to save my life I prefer grid to unlined  paper.

After an unfortunate event in town, where I dropped my TN and it wasn't shut properly, I tend not to over stuff my Pelledori.   I currently have 3 HappieScrappie Travels Notebooks from May, June and July HappieScrappie kits (although they can be purchased separately when the store reopens around mid-October) Then I have one Kraft pocket, where I store journal cards, sticker, washi samples and a few clips. Finally I have this awesome kraft pocket I also store a heap of sticker and other planner goodies in.

If I'm going out somewhere and I don't have room in my bag for my full Dori, I'll remove my notebook and the kraft pocket and leave the rest at home.   If I'm carrying drinks and snacks for the kids I'll pop it I'm this cute plastic pocket so it's not at risk of getting damaged.

So let's get down to the nitty gritty shall we! Here's how I went about planning August 2015:

With four young ones to run around after pretty much 24/7, I've come to accept that if I don't write it down I'll probably forget it, so pretty random things can occasionally show up in my lists!

I've taken to use an adapted version of Ryder Carols "Bullet Journal" (bulletjournal.com) so I can identify what's what in the list, just by a quick glance at the icons.

The first page of my new notebook contains my index page for the first half of the book.  I then label the bottom right of every other page. I always manage to make a mistake but it's easily corrected with a sticker or two.

I used a Ice Cream theme card from the June kit to jot down a reference key and I used one of the cute critters from July kit to make into a pocket to store it in. @mariacgbc has a great tutorial for this, link here.

I always like to start each month with a "brain dump". To me a brain dump is to list everything I didn't get done last month and everything that needs doing this month.  Here I used some cute stickers as titles.

Next up I have my month to view, where I note important dates, events and appointments.  It's a quick overview only. I had fun trying out some new kit stickers here, which I never really did before I met Sam! Now I use stickers at any given opportunity.

As a family of 6, colour coding is really helpful and by some small miracle all of the stickers Sam has designed Have all six colours in!

At the beginning of each new week I try to meal plan. This layout contains 2 weeks menu because it was the last 2 weeks of the summer holidays and we had visitors as well as trips planned so it was easier to plan them both in advance.

Next up we have a list page! Now normally when I'm writing a list I don't combine a whole week, but it was feeling super lazy, as it was so lovely and warm, that I really only got the bare minimum done. Holidays aren't just for the kids, I needed to recharge before the beginning of term too.
Normally I would list my priority tasks for the day at the top and then all other tasks underneath, in  a similar layout as you can see here.

After this page it's pretty much anyone's guess what comes next. If I want to write a recipe or a list of books I want to read, then I'll just go ahead and add it in.

This system really worked for me this month because of the structure of it or rather lack of structure; holidays and then adapting to new school time tables mad working out new routines for everyone.

Next month, with after school activities, tea dates and clubs starting, I may need to move back to a more formal diary layout, but that's the beauty of a Traveler's Notebook. You can adapt the system as much as you like, it's as simple as popping in a new notebook!

Here are a few more photos of my August Planning. I hope you've enjoyed looking inside my world as much as I have sharing it with you.

Planner Setup using August Happie Scrappie Planner Kit

Hello everyone, it’s Lucy (@organisedlucy) again on the blog. I cannot wait to share with everyone how I used the goodies from the August Happie Scrappie Planner kit to set up my planner.

The August Happie Scrappie Planner Kit is my absolute favorite among all the Happie Scrappie Planner Kits that I received previously, as I always have interest in the beauty department even before I started my obsession over papers and stationeries. The August planner kit is definitely jam-packed with so many gorgeous goodies that you can easily personalize and use on your planners. Furthermore, this month’s planner kit is a collaboration between Sam and Sarah Zorel (@sarazorel).

Recently I succumbed myself to the temptation of buying the new Kikki K planner- Icy Blue Perforated Medium Size Planner. It is just too gorgeous. I am sure everyone has seen this planner on instagram, youtube, blogs and Kikki K Website. So when I received my Happie Scrappie Planner kit, I knew right away that I wanted to do a planner setup with Happie Scrappie goodies.

The August Happie Scrappie Planner kit comes with a double sided dashboard, a double sided page marker, twelve pieces of double sided journaling cards, four different designs of planner inserts, a roll of washi tape, one sheet of makeup theme deco stickers, transparent page flags, a pack of sticky notes, a pen, a charm and two Kate Spade paper clips.

Let’s take a look at the Dashboard. It was printed double sided with two different designs on it. Since I love both designs of the dashboard, I decided to use a Post-It Index Tabs to act as a base to hold the dashboard and the pagemarker and punched holes on the tabs instead of punching holes directly on the dashboard. This is to ensure I will still be able to use the other side of the dashboard. The Index Tabs can be found in most stationery stores. You can apply the same method for the page marker too, as it was printed double sided with two different designs.

I then picked up one of the planner inserts and placed them on top of the dashboard with index tabs adhered on it. The purpose of this was just to ensure the spacing of the holes punched would fit perfectly into the planner's rings. I used the single hole puncher that I got from Kikki K recently. Although the size is rather small, it is in fact very sturdy and I managed to punch holes through the laminated dashboard.

Next I like to put page flags and sticky notes in my planner pocket, as these stationeries are very functional to me. I normally use them to mark my calendar and my weekly layout.

Then I moved on to select the journaling cards that I want to put in the planner. I was having a hard time during the selection process. The watercolor painted by Sam really complemented the illustration drawn by Sarah so much that I just could not take my eyes off the journaling cards. They are just too captivating! At the end I decided to pick the one with the banner on it that has the words “BE YOU TIFUL”. Instead of the usual display of the journaling card in a planner, I decided to add a cut out image from one of the journaling cards and clipped it to the other journaling card.

Of course this setup would not be complete without a collection of washi tapes. They come in handy when I need to stick a notepad on the inserts or just for decorative purposes. I picked up an old business card and used it as the washi tapes holder.

I also added my favorite stickers from Happie Scrappie such as the small dots, the happy mails & the fox critters stickers and the makeup stickers from June, July and August planner kits respectively into the largest pocket in the planner.

Since I purchased extra sets of the journaling cards (I may need more now), I decided to create DIY paper clips using some of the images from the journaling cards.

Things that you will need to create the DIY paper clips are a piece of cardstock, paper clips, journaling cards, a pair of scissors, beacon glue, a laminator and a laminating pouch.

I started with cutting the images that I wanted from the journaling cards. Then I made a copy of the similar shape on the cardstock and cut them (this is to make sure I have sturdy paperclips). Next, I put them into the laminating sheet and ran it through the laminator. Finally I cut the laminated images and glued them to the paper clips using the beacon glue.

The processes are quite simple. You can find a youtube video by Lisa Pullano on how to do a DIY paperclips or you can find the tutorial on Sam's blog - link below.

Lastly I added the Happie Scrappie Notepad to the back of the planner.

That’s about it! Now I have a newly setup planner with Happie Scrappie Goodies in it.

I hope you got an useful tip or two from this entry on how to use the Happie Scrappie Goodies.
See you next time.
Happie Planning everyone!
