Chalkboard ❤

It's been a while since I last scrapping 8.5 x 11 layout. Love how fast I could fill it up and complete the layout under an hour or so. This layout is inspired by Wilna Furstenberg tutorial in 2peas for using chalkboard paint as background. I have been dying to try my hands on chalkboard paint as I really really love all the chalkboard art that I see from Pinterest over and over again. So Wilna's video gave me a push to try the chalkboard paint. It is as easy-peasy as painting the background with acrylic paint or watercolor.

Here's my layout inspired by a quote: You Are My Sunshine. I took the picture of my pretty breakfast. A hearty breakfast (yummy & sweet) never fail to make my day as I am never a morning person.

The main feature would be the chalkboard background and the huge-ass handwritten title. I know I don't have the best handwriting and I am so gonna practise my handwriting more. I just tucked some bits and pieces under my photos, added a few cut arrows and brads then I am done with the layout.

I wrote the title with white color pencil as I do not have any white chalks at home. I supposed chalks would work much better with the background. You have to make sure the tip of the color pencil is real sharp and if you would prefer the white color to stand out more, then just add a little water to the pencil.  No worries and just give it a try as the chalkboard background is really forgiving! if you do not like what you have written, just wipe it off with a piece of wet tissue and start it all over again. I applied two layers of chalkboard paint to have a darker and smoother background as opposed to Wilna's grungy/textured background. I guess the textured background makes the writing a little easier too!

Been hoarding on this cute little badge since I saw it in my Studio Calico November kit. One of my new year resolution is to use the supplies that I love on my layout, projects, cards and albums + most importantly, stop hoarding!! I know old habit dies hard but I will try!

I am still debating with myself whether to start doing Project Life 2013, I know it's fast and easy as compared to doing a layout. But but but.... with a newborn baby arriving in April, I doubt I would be able to keep up with any of scrappy projects. Anyway, I can't wait to make some little project life cards and cards with this chalkboard paint!

Thanks for looking. XoXo.
