Whoopsy Daisy

Whoops.... didn't realise I have been neglecting my blog for more than a week! Sorry! Been busy with my trip back to Malaysia, job interviews (oh yes, I need a job to sustain my scrapbook shopping trips after bumming around for 3 months!) and also being a scrap machine. When I mean scrap machine means I either completed a mini album or a layout or cards every day! No blogging but I have been scrapping happily in my own world. What a nice way to spend my precious time before I start my new job next month.

I scrap like crazy while I am back in Singapore as I could not scrap for one full week when I was super occupied by my 8 doggies + family in my KL trip. I am so addicted to scrapbooking nowadays that I would rush home after dinner just to continue with my scrapbooking. That is how crazy I am at the moment.

Here's my first LO when I am back to Singapore: Life Is Like A Bowl of Cherries Berries

A layout that is inspired by the picture itself & also the pattern papers. I did not follow any particular sketch and I was just merely inspired by my newly acquired pattern papers + embroidery threads. I had the title on my mind when I took this pictures. The white shiny berry-look-alike piece is the crystal trinket from Maya Road (correct me if I'm wrong).

It has a hidden journal (not quite hidden though) that was tucked under the picture. I printed the journalling on a piece of cream card stock and added some washi tapes. The journal is actually the lyric of a song - Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" by Lew Brown and Ray Henderson, sung by Ethel Merman in Scandals (1931):

Life is just a bowl of cherries;
Don't make it serious;
Life's too mysterious.
You work, you save, you worry so,
But you can't take your dough when you go, go, go.
So keep repeating it's the berries;
The strongest oak must fall.
The sweet things in life
To you were just loaned,
So how can you lose what you've never owned?
Life is just a bowl of cherries,
So live and laugh at it all.

* I got the lyrics here.

Life Is Like A Bowl of Cherries Berries. Stitched on the word cherries to show that 'cherries' has been cancelled out. I inked the coffee stain using distress ink + a mug.

A lot of sewing done here since I bought plenty of embroidery threads recently. Love this cute heart pattern paper. I wanted to add more purple on this LO to complement the color of the black berries but I ended up use purple card stock as photo mat only. But i really love the pastel colors in this layout.

I fussy cut the circle-and-semi-circle shape from the October Afternoon pattern paper. Most of the papers are bits of scraps (Crate Paper I supposed) from my previous projects / workshops. I just love using bits of scraps in my layout <3

Supplies used: Pattern paper: October Afternoon - Sidewalks,Sassafras - Sweetly Smitten & Sunshine Broadcast, Made With Love wash tape, AC Thickers, Buttons & embroidery threads.

Thanks for dropping by!

  2. Hi Joan, thanks =) The ruler tape is actually from TYPO, much stickier and bigger roller.
    The orange tape is MWL washi tapes. I use their cute washi tapes everywhere, everything. and the turquoise music notes tape is a set of japanese washi tape from PAper Market. http://www.cutetape.com/shop/garland-music-notes-hearts-japanese-washi-tape.html

    How do you store your washi tapes btw?
