Life Is Berry Sweet

It's been a while since I created a layout to join a sketch challenge. The layout was completed close to 2 weeks ago but I have been procrastinating (really bad) in posting it up. I love sketches for small photos ever since I have started Smash*ing and gotten use to work with smaller-sized photos..

Here's the wonderful May Sketch Challenge from Artful Delight

And here's my take for the sketch challenge. Loads of yummies from Crate Paper Story Teller collection.  Love love love the cork board paper!

A lot of layerings here.

Finally I am not too lazy to try embossing technique on my layout.
fyi, the camera is stamped with versa mark & embossed with Zing powder.

Love using jute twines as usual and I decided to go with a more subtle (tinier) title for this layout.

Hearts are punched using this lovely Martha Stewart Heartbeat Border Punch

I always keep all the bits and pieces of papers and couldn't bear to throw them away. So i decide the wrap this tiny stripe of paper around the circle punched out.

Hate working Monday-Saturday, and sometimes Sunday but I keep telling myself life is berry sweet because:

My Mr Strong Man will always be there for me to carry my heavy mail parcel and shopping bag

My furries made my weekends fabulous

Bathing + sunbathing my furries

Highlight of my trip back to Kuala Lumpur... will be meeting up with my scrappy friend

My scrappy friend hand-carved all these lovely rubber stamps.

Meeting up my awesome (and super Crazy!!) animal rescuer friends from Second Chance Dog Shelter

I also made good use of my long weekend by fostering 2 puppies from the doggie shelter.
It was no doubt very busy + tiring weekend to keep cleaning up the mess but having them around is super fun! I enjoy watching them playing and chasing my furries.

And also visiting my rescued-then-rehomed baby - Sammy boy who is now renamed as Maximus Crime (Max). I rescue Sammy the miniature pinscher (the black doggie) back in June last year and it took us over 4 months to get him a loving home. You can find more about Sammy's story here
*Spot the cheeky poodle here? She is a true camwhore / attention seeker! love these pics*

My parents & grannies

Enjoying our Mother's day dinner

My two brothers + younger brother's girlfriend.

My month of May was spent celebrating National Scrapbook Day (NSD) & Mother's day, Smashing, card-making, meeting out with girlies & furries & scrappies, how 'bout yours?

Happy Mail Week

I have been ordering stuffs from US (Two Peas, Studio Calico, Pretty Little Studios, Sprees) and also from scrapbookers that i got to know via a Facebook group.

Let's see what I have gotten here:

Pretty things from Pretty Little Studio. I placed order in April while they were having free international shipping promo. The bunnies and banners are too too cute. I guess I am gonna hoard them for a while before I start using them.

Lovely packaging... and guess what's inside?

Washi tapes! Got them at a hefty price tag ;(

My Mr. Strong Man was lugging this super huge parcel all the way from office back home.
It weighs 25lbs ;P

25 lbs of yummies in a box!
150 sets of stamps (not all are mine, of course! I have been collating order for friends in Singapore to share the shipping), Mister Huey, Dear Lizzy goodies, and Sakura Souffle pens that I have been eyeing.

And another much smaller box from Studio Calico as I have only placed order for the new released stamps. Can't wait to stamp 'em on my Smash*  =)

And my awesome mum got these skincare for me from Korea ;)

And look, Junior got me a gingerbread man. So shuper sweet of him!

My camwhore furries!

Junior looks so fat from this unflattering angle ;)

And then he farted..... hmph!

I *Heart* Camwhoring

I have a dear husband who is totally hopeless in taking pictures & not really into gadgets. So I am always the Ms. Photographer during our trip. It's just not many decent pictures of myself being taken. So camwhoring is one of my favorite things to do too! Who doesn't like pretty pictures of themselves?

For this layout, I have used Artful Delight March Sketch for & plenty of Dear Lizzy goodies. I think I am the first one who submitted the layout, even way before Leanne has posted those LOs by the DT. I just have to create a layout out of this pretty sketch by Abby when I saw it last night. Since I have used quite a number of stickers here, I decided to submit this LO for Scrapbookers Anonymous March Challenge too.

Single photo LO sketch again? Easy-peasy... =P
But I combined 6 polaroid frames as a photo instead.... let's see how it turned out...

Title: I Heart Camwhoring
I just have to use the Dear Lizzy papers! Everything here is from the latest Dear Lizzy line, only the chipboard Alphas is from AC Thickers. I still follow the sketch as much as I could, and I only switched the single photo to a 6 small polaroid frames.

I made some confetti by punching the small circles with my regular puncher & Crop-a-dile. Gluing them down with Inkssentials Glue & Sealer. Then I finished it up by brushing another layer of the Sealer to secure the tiny bits. It looks much much prettier in real life *I swear* Not sure why my camera couldn't capture how pretty it is =(

It looks like I am holding the balloons here

Another close up of the title

Putting this layout together is pretty quick. I just pull all Dear Lizzy goodies together and pick whichever fonts & embellies that I would love to use. The trickiest part would be sticking the confetti down.

Gotta run to the bank now! Thanks for looking and happy crafting during the weekend! Can't wait to get my March kit from Artful Delight & the Paper Smooches stamps that I've ordered with Leanne.

Discover

This layout is inspired by the Bird Is The Word's weekly challenge: DISCOVER. I love this pic of me & Ethan because we both looked different here. He wears glasses everyday and I HARDLY take pictures with my glasses on. But this photo is just the other way round, how cute is that?

I didn't use any sketch for this layout. I am also inspired by Scrapbookers Anonymous February Challenge which is all about hearts & stitching. I love poking holes and hand-stitch a bit of here and there on my layout and heart-shaped embellies is always my favorite, so completing this layout shouldn't be TOO challenging right? I probably stitch more on papers than actual fabric nowadays.

I started digging into my stash for heart-shaped embellies... and heart-shaped pattern papers

Here's my take on both challenges: Theme: Disover and with some hearts & stitching.

This is also inspired by Yvonne Yam's journalling tips on creating a scene for the layout. Loving the MME's Kraft papers (from Artful Delight January scrapbook kit) and I am trying so so so hard to fit the cute pinwheels somewhere in the layout. The journalling reads: Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others, and the delight in the recognition. ~ Alexander Smith

Have you spotted the white glasses on the right of the pictures? Just because I was wearing glasses in this pictures.

I also love the stapling ric-rac ribbons recently.

Okay... here come the stitching part. Stamped the cloud on Doodlebug textured card stock and started stitching. Ethan also helped me with some stitching here. I also painted the vanilla card stock with a wash of blue paint (using distress ink, hehehe)

Tags: D is for Discovery. And the wash of blue color is more obvious here.

And here come the hearts!

Thanks for looking...  It's another 10 hours to go, luckily I made it on time to submit this layout. Phew~
