Happie Add-Ons To My Planner

Hello, it is Wan back on the blog, and today, I am going to share with you how I deal with busy months that require more planning space than is available in my planner.

I don’t know about you, but November and December tend to be really busy months for me. I have to start Christmas preparations (buying presents, etc) early because we have family living far away and we all know about those pesky postal delays that occur during the holiday season, don’t we? So, in order to have a buffer against such delays, I like to start sending presents off in the later half of November, which means I start getting busy with Christmas preparations from early November. In addition, I also start looking into places that do Christmas dinners during the latter two weeks of November because we host Christmas for my side of the family in Singapore, and we tend to buy in, rather than cook. All these extra activities need to be written down and tracked somewhere (with my leaky memory these days) and with my daily planner being maximally utilized even without these extra areas to co-ordinate, I had to get a little creative. Now, I have to say upfront that I don’t do all of my Christmas/extra planning in my daily planner (that is housed in a separate fauxdori insert that acts as Christmas preparation central), but I do need some extra space in my daily planner for some areas of Christmas planning. This is where the unpunched A5 inserts from Happie Scrappie come into great use.

First, I want a place to track presents for everyone, so I chose a grid style page and laid down some washi to make three separate columns.
I then used some of the stickers included in the kit for the headings. My three headings are “Names/Ideas” (for the person I am buying for and any ideas I have for their presents), “Budget” (the amount set aside for them) and “Actual” (the actual amount spent).
Once that is done, I used the magnetic clip to attach it in my Happy Planner (which is my daily planner). I chose this way of securing the page (rather than a more permanent way) because when I go Christmas shopping, I like to take this with me in the fauxdori insert which is Christmas preparation central, and thus, just loosely securing it this way makes it easier to move the page between the two planners. (As a side note, while I try and keep things as authentic as possible by showing pictures of pages that I have actually used, I have deliberately chosen to show a picture of an empty page with just the relevant headings in this case because some of my family follow what I do, and I don’t want them to know what I have actually budgeted/spent on their presents, so I apologise for the less than realistic pic. I assure you that it is currently all filled in in the planner.).
The second page I created/used was actually inspired by the Happie Scrappie insert page itself (this is one of the great things about the Happie Scrappie inserts, they are all designed so well that it is often apparent what you should use them for). I have tasks that I perform regularly that I still sometimes write in my planner (because, as I have said, I have a leaky memory) and one of the insert pages included in this month’s kit is designed to be a tracking insert. That being the case, I moved all my regular tasks to the insert page, which freed up room in my daily planner for the extra Christmas activities that I need reminders for (for example, pick up Cold Storage Christmas brochure, etc).
I also took advantage of the little grid style area at the bottom of the page to highlight the tasks that HAD to be completed that week. With it being such a busy time, I found this to be extremely useful in ensuring that time sensitive tasks were not missed and thus, duly completed.
The page is then attached to the Happy Planner with a piece of washi tape (the same one I used in the layout that week to keep the look coordinated).
That way, I get to keep everything I need in my daily planning all in one place, and there is also the added advantage that the insert has extra space for anything else that I might want to track/plan in the week (it helps that the second side of this insert also features a grid style page which functions very well as note paper).  And just so you get a clear idea of how the page looks in my Happy Planner, here is a pic.
So there you have it, a way to ensure that your planner can stretch to cover those busy times when you need more planning space. And that is it from me for today. If you do adopt this method of ‘expanding’ your planner, do tag us on IG or post in our Facebook group, because we would love to see it. Have a great day and Happie planning!

A Happie Weekly Layout

Hello! It is Wan back on the blog and today, I am going to share with you how I use some of the goodies from the Happiescrappie October kit to create a weekly layout in my Happy Planner.

If you follow me on IG, you would know I use the same basic layout every week and therefore, I don’t have to waste any time planning it. I use the top row for my weekly goals, to-dos and scheduled appointments in my 7 focus areas for the week. it serves as my overview of the week and I refer to it as the week progresses to make sure I am getting what I planned to get done done. I find that it keeps me focused and more organised than I would be otherwise. I have gotten this idea from Sierra (aka @plannerfriend on IG) right when I first started on this planning journey and I have found it SO useful that I have never strayed from it. As for the second row, it is for all my appointments and scheduled events while the last row is dedicated to my to-dos for the day.

To create my layout, I started by laying down the washi from the washi tape set included in the kit. I chose the pink and white one to match the ink colours that I had selected for the week (Versamagic Pink Petunia and Pretty Petunia).
I then used the to-do stickers from the kit to label the last row (I used one on each page as you would see in a later pic when I zoom out).
Next, I used some banner stickers of my own that I have laying around to cover up the headers in the top row. I chose them because they were very close in colour to the stickers Sam included in her kit, thereby ensuring a coordinated look. Once that was done, I was ready to customise the layout further with some stamping. To do this, I removed the pages from the planner first so that the rings would not get in the way. I then stamped in lines and checklists using stamps from My Favorite Things.
When all the stamping was done, I moved on to the sidebar and used two stickers and a white Signo Uniball pen to mark out two separate areas, one for the people I need to make contact with through the week and the other to track my purchases (primarily to make sure I don’t go overboard!).
With that done, the layout in the pages of the Happy Planner was complete.
However, I still needed a place for meal planning and for tracking my water intake and this was where the long note pad included in the kit came in handy for making a dashboard/insert tailored to these purposes. To customise the note pad, I used the little dot stickers that I have left over from a previous kit to mark out the days of the week. I then stamped a cutlery icon (from My Favourite Things) for the meals (I only plan dinner because that is our only family meal) and water glasses (from Sweet Stamp Shop) to track my hydration.
I also thought it would be fun to glue a page from another long Happiescrappie notepad that I bought to the notepad page that I had customised with stamping. Having two pages glued together meant that it was a tiny bit less flimsy, and it helped to keep things interesting.
I then finished the insert/dashboard off by laminating it. Doing so meant that it would be durable and reuseable. I use sharpies to write on it (and rubbing alcohol to erase the writing), but you can also use dry erase markers or vis-a-vis markers.
With the insert/dashboard completed, I now have everything that I need to plan and track what I want for the week. To give everyone a sense of what they look like in use, I have attached pictures of both the Happy Planner and the insert/dashboard all filled in.
The Happy Planner:

The insert/dashboard:
And that is it from me for today. I hope the post has given you some ideas on how you can use your Happiescrappie goodies. Have a great day and Happie planning!

Using Happie Scrappie Inserts for Project Planning

Hi everyone, its Lucy again on the blog today. I hope everyone has had a great week so far!
Today I want to show you how to use the Happie Scrappie Inserts for Project Planning. I am sure all of us are surrounded by projects in our daily life whether it is at work or at home. I made it a goal in 2015 to be organised. However it is really challenging for me to keep things organised especially my work desk at home. Sounds horrible right?!
So, when I received the September Happie Scrappie planner kit, my gut feeling told me that the inserts are perfect for this project. This time, I requested un-punched inserts so that I could easily slot in all the inserts into The Happy Planner, as I frequently carry The Happy Planner everywhere I go.

My all-time weakness for organisation is the tendency to procrastinate when it comes to cleaning and tidying up all the stuffs. I seriously hope I am not the only one here. However, this time I am really determined to be organised no matter what. I have multiple reasons to do that. One of them is whenever i have a messy desk situation, I have this overwhelmed feeling which in turn resulted in lack of focus and distraction. I also read before that when you have a clean and tidy work space, it sorts of enhance the creativity of the brain. Well, more reasons to have an organised and pretty looking work desk, so that whenever I sit down and look at the pretty things around me, I will feel inspired and so motivated to start something great.

Without further ado, let’s have a look at the inserts that we got from Monster theme planner kit. Soooo exciting!!
I decided to use the insert with eight boxes in a sheet. This insert is perfect to cater for different information that you need to start on the project. I started by labelling each box with the header stickers to mark “PROJECT INFORMATION”, “PROJECT GOALS”, “THINGS TO SORT” and “MOTIVATION”.
I used the small dots stickers that I have left over from previous kit to list the project goals. In addition, I used the heart checklist banner to list the things that I need to sort. The stamping images on the motivation box served as an encouragement for me to kick start the project. I always believe the more colorful my insert is - the more motivated I will be to start and finish this project. :)
For the shopping list, I used the list insert to list down things that I need to purchase for this project. Again, I pasted the header sticker on top right hand corner of the insert to mark “SHOPPING LIST” and stamped the shopping cart image from Mommy Lhey Designs.
Do you know that Sam had sent out a newsletter with a link to download free printables for A5 and Personal Size to subscribers? Woohoo!! I definitely took advantage of the cute A5 free printable. This one is called the Brain Dump Insert. I used the brain dump insert to record my favorite websites or blogs to go for inspiration.
Last but not least, I used the calendar notepad to track the progress of the project as it is really important to stay on the schedule. The reason I spread out this simple project throughout the month of November is because I am working in the day and normally I only have time during the weekend, so I won't have need to rush the project. Then, I clipped the piece of notepad to the planner using the magnetic bookmark that came inside the planner kit.
For the finishing touch, all I needed to do was to punch the inserts and slot them into The Happy Planner. The main reason of incorporating these inserts into the happy planner is to ensure I will be able to record or to brain dump any information that I want to add wherever I go.
Okay that's about all.. Wish me luck for my desk decoration project. I am really excited to start on it. I am definitely going to make it happen this time. I will share photos with you guys once it's done!
I hope you have been inspired by this post on how to use your Happie Scrappie Inserts.

Till the next time.

XOXO

Lucy

What Do I Do With All of These Journaling Cards?

Hi Happie Scrappie girls! It’s Teddi Confetti here with a blog post using the super duper gorgeous August makeup themed Happie Scrappie kit!
This month I wanted to show you one way that you can use those gorgeous custom designed 3x4 cards that are often included in the happie planner kits!
I don’t know about you guys, but I have quite a few of these little cards in my life!  I really love all the gorgeous designs and sayings, but I sometimes struggle to find uses for them all.
This month I decided to take my favorite cards and fussy cut around the designs to create ephemera pieces that I used to decorate my planner.
This was a semi-painful process for me at first because cutting out the design on one side will usually ruin the design on the opposite side.  I reminded myself that if I didn’t find a use for these pretty cards they would go to waste anyway, so I mustered up the courage and started clipping out the cute little designs.
Even though it was a little painful at first to cut up those gorgeous cards, I was really really happy with how it all turned out!
I actually even clipped some of the cute designs from the packaging to use as ephemera pieces.  I loved the little perfume bottles from the perfume sticker packaging!
I also clipped out the little stamp that Sam adds to the paper bag that the whole kit comes in and added it to my page, and snipped the little flowers off the top of a few of the stick markers to use as a bit of added decoration!
I included this page marker that I “made” by simply hole punching the marker using my arc planner style punch.  I laid the unpunched page marker in my planner along side the rings with a bit sticking out the top.  I then put a little dot where the first hole should be and punched!  Now I can easily find my current week! The marker is made from lovely heavy-duty card stock, so there’s no need to laminate (unless you really want to)!
Last but not least I hung the little high heel charm from the happy planner rings.  The perfect finishing touch!
Thanks so very much for taking the time to read!  Feel free to tag me if you guys decide to clip out the cute designs from your happie planner kit cards! I would love love love to see what you create!!

With love,

Teddi
