Using Happie Scrappie Inserts for Project Planning

Hi everyone, its Lucy again on the blog today. I hope everyone has had a great week so far!
Today I want to show you how to use the Happie Scrappie Inserts for Project Planning. I am sure all of us are surrounded by projects in our daily life whether it is at work or at home. I made it a goal in 2015 to be organised. However it is really challenging for me to keep things organised especially my work desk at home. Sounds horrible right?!
So, when I received the September Happie Scrappie planner kit, my gut feeling told me that the inserts are perfect for this project. This time, I requested un-punched inserts so that I could easily slot in all the inserts into The Happy Planner, as I frequently carry The Happy Planner everywhere I go.

My all-time weakness for organisation is the tendency to procrastinate when it comes to cleaning and tidying up all the stuffs. I seriously hope I am not the only one here. However, this time I am really determined to be organised no matter what. I have multiple reasons to do that. One of them is whenever i have a messy desk situation, I have this overwhelmed feeling which in turn resulted in lack of focus and distraction. I also read before that when you have a clean and tidy work space, it sorts of enhance the creativity of the brain. Well, more reasons to have an organised and pretty looking work desk, so that whenever I sit down and look at the pretty things around me, I will feel inspired and so motivated to start something great.

Without further ado, let’s have a look at the inserts that we got from Monster theme planner kit. Soooo exciting!!
I decided to use the insert with eight boxes in a sheet. This insert is perfect to cater for different information that you need to start on the project. I started by labelling each box with the header stickers to mark “PROJECT INFORMATION”, “PROJECT GOALS”, “THINGS TO SORT” and “MOTIVATION”.
I used the small dots stickers that I have left over from previous kit to list the project goals. In addition, I used the heart checklist banner to list the things that I need to sort. The stamping images on the motivation box served as an encouragement for me to kick start the project. I always believe the more colorful my insert is - the more motivated I will be to start and finish this project. :)
For the shopping list, I used the list insert to list down things that I need to purchase for this project. Again, I pasted the header sticker on top right hand corner of the insert to mark “SHOPPING LIST” and stamped the shopping cart image from Mommy Lhey Designs.
Do you know that Sam had sent out a newsletter with a link to download free printables for A5 and Personal Size to subscribers? Woohoo!! I definitely took advantage of the cute A5 free printable. This one is called the Brain Dump Insert. I used the brain dump insert to record my favorite websites or blogs to go for inspiration.
Last but not least, I used the calendar notepad to track the progress of the project as it is really important to stay on the schedule. The reason I spread out this simple project throughout the month of November is because I am working in the day and normally I only have time during the weekend, so I won't have need to rush the project. Then, I clipped the piece of notepad to the planner using the magnetic bookmark that came inside the planner kit.
For the finishing touch, all I needed to do was to punch the inserts and slot them into The Happy Planner. The main reason of incorporating these inserts into the happy planner is to ensure I will be able to record or to brain dump any information that I want to add wherever I go.
Okay that's about all.. Wish me luck for my desk decoration project. I am really excited to start on it. I am definitely going to make it happen this time. I will share photos with you guys once it's done!
I hope you have been inspired by this post on how to use your Happie Scrappie Inserts.

Till the next time.

XOXO

Lucy

Layouts⎪Happy Father's Day *mambi*

I made not one, but two layouts for father's day using my favourite Me & My Big Ideas products. One for my hubs, and for my baby's favourite grandpa in the universe. I didn't make any father's day cards for them because they prefer getting a completed layout more than getting a card which they normally just toss them away. LoL.

Before showing you my layout, I gotta show you what inspires me on creating these two layouts. I am very interested in starting my own art journal, although I am still learning all the techniques and no where to be near those amazing ladies on Sodalicious team. I kept pinning Nulka's art journal pages to my Pinterest board which you could find here.

I am loving the soft colour with some black droplets which I tried to mimic below (but failed big time) LoL.

I added gesso to my white card stock then started adding water-colour to my page once the gesso is dry. I kinda like the cool effect of the water-colour background but I think the big black droplets ruin the page. But it's fine, I still love the page because it features such cute photos of my super baby. I totally miss his chubby thighs!

Cute chalkboard sticker that go with wooden clothespin. Too cute!

Got inspiration for the title from the Me & My Big Ideas paper pad that I was working with.

Then I move on to another layout with mixed media technique too. it isn't visible here because I added white molding paste (with a star stencil from Prima Marketing) on a piece of white card stock.

Here's the close up of the background:

Just a simple title: to remind my boy what he does with the gramps everyday - They always sing and play at the front porch. Thats their highlight of the day, everyday.

To be honest, I have scrapped these two photos previously. But its totally fine to scrap your favourite photos again, and again right? HAve you ever scrap the same photos at least twice? I have even scrapped 4 times for the same photo. Lol. Tell about obsession here.

Happy father's day to all the dad, grandpas, uncles! Have a great weekend!

Layout ⎪Good Times Taking Selfie *mambi*

I have a project life-inspired layout up on Me & my BIG ideas blog last weekend but didn't have the chance to blog about it. This layout is inspired by the gird style in PL pages + Stephanie Bryan's layout for Two Peas in January. Oh boy, I really love doing grid style layouts a lot. I like to embellish + dolling up each box.

I cut 9 squares of some 2.75' x 2.75' on a piece of 12x12 card stock and layer it over a piece of mint green patterned paper from mambi Paper Pad. I actually have 3 photos for this layout - me and boy's selfie. I have fully trained Ivan to be a professional Selfie taker nowadays, he knows how to pose for Selfie whenever I switch on my front camera on iPhone. Taking Selfie is the easiest way to capture our day-to-day nowadays ;P

For the 3 selfie photos, I only placed one square photo on the front flap and tucked in the other two photos under the flap. So that I could add a little more bulk + layering on the other 8 flaps.

Here's the front flaps:
The pink foam letter stickers hello are die-cut using eBosser. I bought the foam sheets from Art Friend and use My Favourite Thing Die-namics to cut them out. I bought a stack of foams and can't wait to cut more of these foam letters. I always prefer using foam Thickers more than chipboard Thicker ;)

And what are under the flaps: Oh my, I just adore these glitter Pocket Pages cards from mambi.

Told ya, I hid a lot of glitters and shines under the flaps!

This is such a simple and fun layout! I am planning to make one more pages using the same cut file soon!

Project Life⎪Green is for St Patrick's Day *mambi*

As you know, I am a pastel and pink girl. GREEN is never my colour! So when Shelby asked us to make projects using more GREEN or St Patrick's Day related theme project, I struggled big time. This is mainly I don't celebrate St Patrick's Day and I don't like green. I like mint green, but not the usual green.

So to kick start on making a green project-life spread, I start looking for green papers (and with a little of blue to complement the green ;)) from Mixed Media Paper Pad. This paper pad is by far my favourite pad that I keep using it over and over again. I am so sad that its getting so much thinner after 2 months of making projects. Next, I started looking for green embellishments from MAMBI CHIPS and also cards from Pocket Pages. Once I have pull out all the GREENS, things come together easily.

It does look really green and different from my usual choice of colors. It is really fun to break my usual habits and do something different + out of the box! i love how the cards from Pocket Pages make planning + dolling up Project Life spreads easily.

Here are the close-ups:

The flowers layered stickers are just too cute! And I think I have been stitching chipboards too frequent with my sewing machine and now it needs some TLC. Gotta bring it for service / repair next week!

p.s. Do you notice I am keeping my PL spread less embellished? Just because this year is a busy month, I am no longer a SAHM =) Ivan is turning one this month, he does demand a lot of attention + energy from us, I am bringing him for weekly classes and also I gotta work part time for Happie Scrappie Shop + do some design work for my in-law's office. Not to mention I am conducting book binding & amigurumi workshops once a month, just because I want to spread my love for making books + amigurumis.

Project Life⎪LOVE Pocket Pages *mambi*

I have a valentine-themed POCKET PAGES™ layout up on me & my BIG ideas blog today.  It's front and back and uses it in a while new way!  I  didn't use cards on all of them and left a lot of clear space.  So mambiCHIPS™ are back to back.  I definitely spend quite some time matching the mambi chips front and back, planning the arrangement of the embellishments and stitching the pockets  but that is so fun!  I love how different this page is!

And here'd the front page. Many of these pockets has a lot of space and I photo'd them on top of a piece of white mounting board. I make more blue/teal on the left and more red/pink on the right.

And here's the back: I  just go with the flow for the colour coordination since it is quite hard to find matching size for those mambiCHIPS.

More close-ups: my machine stitching is messy. It is really hard to stitch these plastic pockets and also I am very skillfull with my beloved sewing machine.

TIPS for taking photo of your Project Life pages:
It was really hard to avoid the glare of the pocket sleeves but luckily the photo of these Pocket Pages turn out OKAY. I normally place my PL cards on top of the plastic sleeve so that the cards would have more dimension and also I do not have to deal with the glare. For this spread, I actually photo around 6pm, just before the sun sets and the sky was still bright - Glad that it works for me!

Layout⎪So Loved *me & my BIG ideas*

I have a layout up on me & my BIG ideas blog today! Go check it out here!

For this layout, I use  the POCKET PAGES™ and spiced them up on a regular scrapbook layout.  I love how versatile these cards is - that you could use them on layout, on pocket style scrapbooking (i.e. Project Life) or even make a card with them!  I also use mambi Puffy numbers with the embellished pastel POCKET PAGES™ cards.

There are a few favourite things on this layouts:

1. I love all things pastel - pink, blue yellow are my fave!
2. Glitter! those glitter chipboard stickers and cards are simply stunning!
3. Arrow! I like to use arrow to draw people's eyes to the photo.
4. I also like to use numbers to create a flow to my layout - i think most of us are programmed in such a way that you will follow the sequence 1,2,3 when you look at the layout. Do tell me if this happens o you too?

so loved 1

p.s. This photo is so scrap worthy because it is really difficult to take a nice selfie of three of us. this photo is a tad grainy, a tad blurry but it is super duper precious to me! I also love how baby Ivan lift his left foot up whenever I press the snap button! Maybe thats the way a 9-month-old pose? He is such a natural poser! lol

And here's some close up of the layout:

so loved 2

What Winne The Pooh said makes a lot of sense right?

so loved 3

I scrapped this photo the very same day I took the photo ;)

so loved 4
