Mini Albums | Tackling My 2015 Resolution #1

Hello everyone! Happy 2015 =) This is Sam today to share a mini album that I made for my pen pal. One of my new year resolution in 2015 is to send more Happy Mails to my Instagram friends. My pen pal, April Joy send me a pen pal album with a lot of fun facts about herself in February 2014. And it only took me 11 months to make my own version of pen pal album and send to her. *LOL* 

She told me her favourite colour is Pink & Mint so I decided to make the mini album with pink and mint colour cardstocks. Then I built my pages by adding various journaling cards, stamps, wood veneer and puffy stickers from Shop Evalicious. This is gonna be a photo-heavy post as this mini album has about 18 pages in total. So grab a cuppa and I do hope you enjoy looking at my mini album (which I have yet to write my pen pal letters on it).

I added a lot of tags as side tab for the mini album, just for fun.

I love love love adding white embossed image on vellum and stitch them on patterned papers to make little pockets - to hold tags / hidden notes.

Another page that I use white embossing powder on stamped image and added some puffy stickers. This is so easy and fun!

Embossed image on the shipping tag could act as resist when I added water-colour.

Mini Album | Citrus Twist Kits - 2 Girls, 2 Perspectives Mini Album Class

Citrus Twist Kits has a new self-paced mini album class called '2 Girls, 2 Perspectives' from 2 designers using the class kit this month. At just $10 this class is full of ideas to create your perfect sweet mini and will be delivered to your email inbox as a 48-page ebook.

I decide to play along and joined the mini album class too. And here's a pic of my work in process using the class kit and online class which are available here. I love the new stamp sets that April Joy has designed for Citrus Twist Kits this month, so I used them on the album, and also my planner pages.

I love April's stamp set (Birthday and Hello Sunshine) so much that I have been stamping them on everywhere, literally.

I use two pieces of 6x6 canvas chipboards as my album covers and added some die cuts and paint for a simple cover. Oh, the theme of my little book is to record all the little things that made me happy. So it is actually like my Gratitude journal to remind myself to be happy and count my blessings. Of course I have to include photos of my little Sunshine - baby Ivan!

Here is the class kit, available here for $41 plus shipping: I love the mix of pastel colour and some whimsical / vintage embellishments added to the kit.

In this class designers Mira Wlosinska and Trina Craig share their individual approached on creating a mini album, each album a different size and approach. We have a private Facebook forum that you will be invited to join as part of this class to share your album progress and ask questions.

Layouts⎪Tokyo trip *Kellie Stamps*

I didn't want to start every blog post saying the same thing, but Gosh! how time flies and it is already June? And its summer in US right now. We don't have sprint/summer/autumn/winter in Malaysia & Singapore, but I do follow holidays and seasons in the US as I scrap for design teams in US. I always like to work with themed products and Travel + Summer themed is always my favourite!

And here I am, to share a projects that I have guest design for Kellie Stamps which is designed by the amazingly talented Kellie Winnell. I first came across her stamps when I won one of her Instagram giveaway - which is the geometric shape + hello stamp set pictured bellow. I used the help stamps a lot, like almost on every of my weekly pages in my 2013 Project Life album, just because Hello was my one little word for 2013.

Then I emailed and asked her if I could guest DT for her stamps, unashamedly. And surprisingly, she came back with a YES! It is never wrong to ask if I really like her stamps so much right?

Once I got back from Japan, I started making some mini layouts for my trip and her stamps are so suitable for my page. So I quickly made 2 pages here, using the following products: Monday-Friday here, Photo Bomb here and My Home, here. 

I cut the little frames from a piece of DearLizzy patterned papers and stamped the sentiments in rainbow colors with Versacolor to make my own background. Trying to do layering with stamps instead of adding a tonnes of embellishments because I do not want my albums to be too thick as I had taken like 1000 photos throughout the 7 days trip.

The rainbow hearts is a piece of overlay from one of the Freckled Fawn kit. Don't ask me which one, I jumbled them all up. LoL

This is one of my favourite photos from Tokuo Disney. Believe it or not, this is my first time visiting Disney, and i actually felt guilty and didn't take much picture. Reason? Because this is our honeymoon to Tokyo and we never bring our little man with us. I didn't want my Little Man come back to me one day and ask why I didn't bring him to Disneyland in the future.

It seems I can only scrap with white background nowadays, then finish it up with some mist splatter.

I collected a lot of memorabilia during my trip, especially maps from various theme parks, ticket stubs and flyers. So I decided to add them to the pockets. Instead of using the sleeve protector / pockets that came with the Basic Grey Capture album, I added this super sturdy (and thick) plastic folder that I got from Daiso. It is sized at B6 (176 x 125 mm or 6.93 x 4.92 inches). For RM5 (less than USD2) for a pack of 16 folders is quite an awesome deal right?

What I do it I punch holes using my Cropadile after measuring the placement of the holes of the Basic Grey Album. It is tinier but I like that it is thick and sturdy, and also super cheap.

Here's how the packaging looks like, Trust me, I have bought like 5 packs from Daiso after watching Mit's video on how she use this folder in her filofax. Watch her awesome videos here. I also use these in my Kate Spade planner to hold my most used post it notes + index labels.

Mini Album⎪You're My No. 1 *Write Click Scrapbook x CTK*

Hello there! As you could see from the title, this is a blog post about my mini album for Write Click Scrapbook - Mini Madness month ;) This month all the WCS girls focus on making mini books / mini albums and last week all the girls used supplies from Citrus Twist Kits to create their mini books. I was lucky enough to get Citrus Twist Kits - Match main kit to work with and I am in love with everything in the box!

I had fun using Citrus Twist Main Kit, Pocket Life Kit and PL Embellie kit to create my super bulky mini album! My little boy is turning ONE in 2 weeks time and I wanted to make a mini album with some of his photos, particularly pictures that I really love and also pictures that indicate important things in his life. I have included photos of him with our family members, photo of him falling ill, photos of him being silly etc. I didn't plan my album beforehand, but just randomly pick photos from my phone and print them out in 3x4 size.

 

I initially started with only 6 pieces of patterned papers trimmed into 4.5' x 6.5'. As I was creating, I keep printing more photos and adding sequin pockets, mini cards that came with the kit. This is going to be a gift to the gramps who are lovingly take care of him whenever I need some me-time to create and work.
