Layout⎪And & *Citrus Twist Kits*

Hello there! Today I have a layout featured on Citrus Twist Blog - 6x6 Paper Play post. I love love love the bold prints in the Studio Calico PrintShop collection that is included in  CTK January Pocket Life kit.

When I flipped through the paper pads and my eyes were drawn to the bold script patterned papers. Then I thought maybe its time for me to make a Black and white layout with all the bold patterned papers. And here's my take!

Everything here is from January Pocket Life kit and PL Embellies kit, I only sneak in a piece of 12x12 paper from Printshop collection to mat my white card stock. I was kinda happy how the B&W layout turn out  + baby was wearing black Superman onesie and husband was wearing white top in the photo. So this really match the colour of my layout very well.

I started by cutting this heart on a piece of white card stock and layer three pieces of patterned papers underneath. I also added some mini butterfly punch-outs to add some dimension to the layout.

Okay, it is really tough for me to stick on only Black & White. So I sneak in a piece of rainbow pattern papers under the photo and use it as my hidden journalling tag. 

I make the chalkboard stickers even more chalkboard look by doodling with white gel pen and rubbed with my fingers.

Mini Album⎪You're One

Hello there! I am sharing another mini album that I made for Baby Vivi's one year old birthday. Do you remember Vivi who is Ivan's girlfriend? I have made a layout featuring cute photos of them first met. I have no idea what gifts to get for Vivi'sfirst birthday because she seems to have everything! Lucky baby indeed! So I got her godmom - Trisha to send me monthly photos of Vivi since the day she was born. And I created a simple mini album using loads of Studio Calico Story Time - baby girl collection.

For the cover - I can't seem to get away from making a huge sequin pocket again ;) I tend to recycle designs that I love again and again.

I torn a few pages from vintage book for layering. I love adding gelatos / watercolors on the vintage book paper! It simply adds unique texture to the album. 

Keeping left page simple because I simply love how clean the star patterned transparency is. 

Leaving some of the pages blank so that godma can add typed journaling later.

My favourite page of this mini album. I added the ombre pink - orange with Gelatos on a piece of white card stock.

The die cut tags (thin cork sheet and pink paper) on the right is cut with my beloved Craftwell eBosser and Avery Elle's dies.

Last page on the left - Birthday photo will be added on that page. And again, loving the water-colour effect on the vintage book paper.  Too pretty!

What do you think of this birthday gift? I hope Vivi's mom - Xuan will love the album when she receives it! Definitely using the same idea to make a mini album for Ivan's monthly photos when he turns one! But guess what, picking 12 photos from over 10,000 photos is gonna be an uphill task (or maybe mission impossible)!

Layout⎪ Love You *About A Boy*

Hello people! I have a new layout up on About A Boy Scrapbook Challenge Blog this week. The challenge for this week is 'Going In Circle'. Circle and hearts are two of the most used elements when I am creating layout and project life. I mad love my various sizes of circle punches but to be frank, I only have 4~5 circle punches.

 

For this layout, I decided to use my Studio Calico June kit - Planetarium. I pull out all the papers with circle elements and also polka dots because I want to use as many circles as I could in this layout. I am still loving pastel colors when creating my baby boy layout but I have no idea why it end up being a very very girly layout. Perhaps the lace / ribbon trims under the photo make the layout looks extremely girly?

 

Love the photo collage of Baby Ivan. He looks so grown up here despite being only 8 weeks old. LoL. Is there a STOP button so that I could enjoy his babyhood more? Now I am missing his newborn days ;) I am sure most of the mommies feel the same that time flies and we do not want to miss out any of the precious babyhood.

This Jillibeans phrase stickers are beyond awesome! It looks like silhouette cut minus the hassle of using the die-cutting machine. I could only do a quick layout (i.e. under an hour) nowadays.

I love all the photos of Baby Ivan, thus I made a photo collage using PicStitch app on my iPhone and print in on a 4x4 size. Just the perfect size for a 12x12 layout. And the grey title is also the phrase stickers from Jillibeans that I have grabbed each design in every single color, and some I even grabbed 2!

Layout⎪ I'm NOT Perfect *Let's Get Sketchy*

This is the sketch for June Week 1:

I love the big circle element in this sketch yet I do not want it to be too overwhelming in my layout. So I machine stitch the circle as background. And I also wanted this layout to be simple and not heavily embellished, so here's my take:

Believe it or not, I was creating this layout when I was really moody. Hence this layout looks very 'sad' and I am totally fine putting this layout to my album. I am determined to document my life, be it happy or sad, all go into my album. And I am surprised how this layout turned out to look kinda gloomy, despite having cutesy stars and bright pink.

Using Studio Calico June kit. Recently i started deciding what color combination i want for my layout, then decide on the element (square, heart, circle, triangle etc) and I will start creating, and NO looking back. I even managed to scrap a layout in 30 minutes when I have my Mojo.

I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect - they are much more interesting.

Project Life⎪ Week 17

I have kinda lost my mojo to scrap recently. Maybe I am too busy juggling between taking care of a newborn & tonnes of house chores, maybe I just needed a break. I went to one of our local scrapbook store recently (after 3 months!!) and I almost came out empty handed. The only things I bought are some page protectors (which I have ran out) and some Jillibean alpha stickers. Even my husband said the Jillibean Alphas are soo cute that I will regret for life if I don't get them. Okay, I am probably exaggerating a little here. These Project Life spreads are already up on Citrus Twist Kits gallery so I am posting them here. 

Here's the Week 17 spread (with Citrus Twist Kits May PL kit only):

At first glance, the page doesn't look very me. The colors from Studio Calico Sundrifter collection are way muted and dreamy than my normal style and my spread is much simpler as well. Less embellies and more silhouette cut outs. Eventually when I slot all the card into the pockets, I kinda love how the spread turn out.

Many many baby Ivan's photo. Guess my world gonna evolve around him for the next 20 years perhaps? 

Everything is from the PL kit and I just added buttons, sequins and a flair button from my stash.

I love making grid layout recently. So I incorporate that to my title card too.

I simply adore this photo of my dad and Ivan.

Layout⎪ Bundle Of Joy

I have just realized I have totally forgotten to post these 2 layouts that I made for Studio Calico Sunday Sketch Challenge dated 21/April. Omg, this was featured on Studio Calico blog almost a month ago. I was jumping in joy when I received emails from Nicole Harper to join them for the Sketch Challenge. Check out the blog post here.

This is the first layout I made using Dawn Mcvey's card sketch in Spencer's gallery.

When I saw Dawn's card sketch, I am inspired to make a layout with circle photos and go crazy with circle embellishment. So I created a cut file by placing various sizes of circle vertically (by following the sketch). Then I added bits and bobs of papers, buttons, garlands, splatter, enamel dots and even a flair button. 

I am in love with the way Dawn embellished each circle with heart and stars. So I grabbed some cut-out stars from my previous layout and add some doodling with White gel pen. Added some stars, button and garland from Glitz Design to each of the circle. The overall layout turned out to be slightly different from the card sketch but i really love how the sketch inspire me to do something out of my comfort zone which is creating layout with circle photo. 

I have also tied twine into ribbons by following Dawn's embellishment on the card. This is such a quick and easy layout for me as I just cut the circles, back with various patterned papers and add bits and bobs and I am done. Easy peasy!

Somehow the white balance for the photos of this layout is out. It is way nicer in real!

Had so much fun embellishing each circle.

And here's the second layout using Geralyn Sy's sketch in her Spencer's gallery:

I love the way Geralyn made her layout with 2 patterned papers for the background and also the white splatter all over the bottom piece card stock. I flipped the sketch vertically and tucked layers of papers behind my photos to replace those tags that Geralyn used. 

I love the way Geralyn added white splatter all over the bottom piece of cardstock and this reminds me of starry sky. So I used my beloved Silhouette Cameo to cut a star background and used the negative part and splattered lots of white Mister Huey. I back my layout with a piece of white cardstock that I have already added some gesso and painted with mister huey to create a subtle mixed media background. Love me some gesso for most of my projects nowadays and it's so fun! I also cut out the misted arrows and place in between the two papers to create a barrier.

I kept the position of the embellishment on the bottom right unchanged and just added a circle and a misted arrow. I am deeply in love with the arrow mask that came in the Neverland scrapbook kit. It's so versatile to use as background or cut-out as embellishment. The possibilities of using this mask is endless.

p.s.: The red color mist splatter on the someday tag did look like blood stain, so I added some yellow splatter to disguise it. LoL.

Which layout is your favorite? I prefer the star layout more than the circle one, because I hardly use color card stock for my projects. So this is definitely something different for me. And the watercolor background under the star die cut is insanely pretty! Thanks for looking. XoXo.

Layout⎪ 6x6 Paper Play *Citrus Twist Kits*

Hello there! Its been almost 2 weeks since I last blogged. No worries, I am still breathing and crafting although I have been crafting much lesser compared to the days Baby Ivan was here. Baby's first days can't wait and I would not want to miss those precious moment right?

I have two layouts up on Citrus Twist Kits blog today featuring the 6x6 paper pads that is included in the Project Life May kit. I love purchasing 6x6 pads although I don't make a lot of cards. I just love how this little paper pad has almost all the papers in a particular collections at a fraction of price. And most of the PL-ers know that the scaled-down patterns in the 6x6 pads are perfect to use for those little pockets in PL spreads.

I also love using 6x6 pads to create traditional 12x12 layouts and I have posted two of the examples on CTK blog. One is crazily vibrant and the other one is simply dreamy. Do check the blog out and hopefully you'll be inspired to use up some of the paper pads in your stash too!

With a 2 inch square punch and a 6x6 paper pad, I could make a busy-and-complicated looking layout under an hour. Awesome huh? I could go really crazy with the colors and embellishment as I am using a B&W photo. I think I am gonna scrap this photo again and again as this is one of the most important moment of my life.

Currently: In love with vellum pockets.

Am hoping I could have better hand writing ;)

And this is the 2nd layout I created with the 6x6 pad & a Martha Stewart Hearts punch.

As opposed to the previous vibrant layout, this layout is more on the muted, dreamy side to match with my wedding photo. This is one of my favorite photos of myself during my big day. The photo is so simple, yet meaningful, so I didn't want the layout to be overwhelmed with embellishments.

The Dear Lizzy thickers look so yummilicious with its sugar frosting ;)

Running out of white thread. So I have been stitching with pale yellow thread for my recent projects.
