Cutesy Overloads

Edited (2 Feb 2012): I came across this inspiring Thursday challenge from Scraptastic Club. The challenge is to find that thing that you struggle with, be it cards, 8.5x11 layouts, tags, using certain items, such as trims, where ever your struggle lays, and confront it head on! Make that layout, tag, etc. When I was browsing my own layout, I found that i always struggle with making full use of my scraps & some loud pattern papers. I also love to collect those adorable Washi tapes but I have always struggled to use them in my lo. And the washi tape flags are one of my have in this lo. Thus I decided to enter this inspiring challenge using this layout.

I am a sucker to scrapbooking tools and am in the midst of collecting more (& more) punches, stamps and ink pads. I have just gotten two Marvy Uchida punches as a steal from my LSS.
I got the scallop square punch & the square punch at $16 each. Trust me, these punches are gigantic! I was kinda hesitate to purchase them as I think storage might be a pain in the *ss.

Couldn't help punching papers with all the scraps the I found picture of my fostered puppy, Bubu that I printed months ago. He was dressed up as a Lady Gaga with the huge ribbon headgear, thus the title is 'Lady Bubu'.

All the pattern papers are scraps from my previous layouts, workshops & albums. Thus not all are coordinated perfectly. The cheeky boy tab is a hidden journalling which can be pulled out.

I wrap some satay sticks with washi tape to make some cute flags.

I wrap some twine around the squares to mimic the look of a gift.

I love the date stamp that i got from a book shop. Added some Maya Road Wood Bingo & MAMBI stickers. Being a dog lover, I always ended up buying puppy-motifs stickers & embellishments.

Live. Laugh. Love. Share with me which part of the lo is your favorite? I couldn't decide as I really spent   longer than usual to add those little embellishments.

Ah... that's all for this simple layout. I will not be scrapping for a week as I'm going back to hometown scissors-less & paper-less. Guess I will just take loads of pictures of my dogs & family so that i would have more pictures to be scrapped.

Random Saturday

Have you ever felt like doing a layout or making a cards but you are so lazy to create / design one? So scrap lifting or card kit comes in handy when you have this scrapper's block. Here & here are some of the ways for combating Scapper's block by Your Memory Connection. After spending 2 days completing a layout for my hubby, I still feel like cutting papers and sticking the embellishments but I am just too tired to design any of my own layout.

So I decided to take out the Basic Grey card kit and started following the instruction included in the kit. I completed the 2 cards in 30 minutes.

And I just love how the cards turned out.

This card is meant for me & my husband, we gotta write down our 10 promises to each other.

Just love the apple. And of course, the recipient of the card too!

Sealed with a kiss =* it's from the Studio G's stamp set

And lastly, just to share how I wrapped and decorate the gift (a very belated x'mas prezzies) to my friend. I just wrapped it and added the rosette, ribbon + stickers. I was so obsessed with making rosettes a week ago but none of them goes to my layout / cards. Once I'm done decorating, I just realized this is actually an X'mas present to my friend, not birthday! Silly me! and of course, I quickly changed the stickers to Christmas greetings.

Have a great weekend ahead! =)

Made With Love

I collected the prize that I won from Made With Love 'Scrap This & That' Challenge 5 the next day I found out the good news.

Of course, I used the gift voucher within 30 minutes after I got hold of it. MWL is having a special bins priced ar $2, $6,$8, $16 filled with some interesting goodies. And of course, I can never resist any sales at our LSS.

Call me a shopaholic! All these goodies are worth more than my $20 voucher. I forking out my own money to purchase the goodies. =P I super love the hot air balloons embellishment and the clear stamps from American Crafts. I used both the Hot Air Balloons & clear stamp in my latest layout.

I play along with the next 'Scrap This & That' challenge hosted by MWL Design Team Piradee as well. This round is a color challenge based on the below pictures from Pinterest.

The main colors is Kraft, Brown, Green & Yellow. Very very refreshing spring colors. And this is my first time joining a color challenge. To me this is much challenging than a sketch challenge.

Here's my take on the color challenge that I spent 2 full days doing it. Call me a slow scrapper =P

Tadah! Pretty not? I max love this layout as this is dedicated to my hubby as part of the Valentine's day gift.

This layout is to commemorate our 15th anniversary. We aren't that old that we have been married for 15 years. It just that we have got to know each other 15 years ago. This layout made me feel so 'old'. hahahaha. I asked him what does he think of our 15-year relationship from being classmate, to best friend, to couple, to frenemy and finally got hitched in September last year. He replied me that he's still very in love with me. So sweet of him =) Thus I added that in part of the title (right under the 15 years part).

This is basically a very simple layout with some hand-cutting hearts & punching out some MS butterflies. I try to stick to only yellow, brown, green & kraft color to go with the theme of the color challenge. The tricky part is sewing / hand-stitching the borders, hearts and butterflies to the layout. I can never sew a button properly and that explains why it took me 2 FULL days to complete this simple layout.

I also use the sketch from Sketch365 January Challenge. This sketch is such an amazing sketch and I like how the embellishments become the attraction of the page.

And I have tucked in a stack of hidden journalling behind the photo. I printed some of the reasons why I love him on the pattern paper. Love how it lovely turned out.

More pictures of the layout:
Couldn't help adding some twine to the layout. The twine does consider as KRAFT color right?

The title goes like this: 15 years... Still in love

Could you spot the cute Made With Love washi tape? It matches so well with the theme of my layout.

Supplies used: Pattern paper: Pink Paislee - Nantucket, Basic Grey - Kissing Booth, Jillibean - Apple Cheddar Soup,  scraps from Liana's workshop that we made a book folder, MS Classic butterfly punch, Crop-a-dile, Made With Love wash tape, AC Thickers & transparency to hold my hidden journalling.

Thanks for dropping by! XoXo

Something To Perk You Up

Here's something to perk you up if you are in a sulk at work during Chinese New Year =)

You're not alone. I DID feel bad to start work on the third day of Chinese New Year while others are busy visiting friends & relatives, collecting Ang Pau (red packets). Not for me (this year) as I'm jobless and bumming around all day =)

Guess What?

Hello hello! I am extremely happy when I found out that I won another scrapbook challenge by one of the LSS (Made With Love).

I emailed Aida twice to claim my prize as I was too excited and forgotten to provide my contact details =P That shows how excited I was okay?

This is the LO that I made for my younger brother & his girlfriend.

The challenge is to use only pattern papers (no card stock), at least two distress products & metal embellishment. I happened to saw this cute stationery shop, Prints @ Raffles City while I was on the way to a job interview. Can you tell how obsessed I'm with stationery & papers? I couldn't help checking out a stationery shop even I was in a rush. And there I found the cute birdie brads which are perfect for this layout. Did I mention that I actually complete the whole layout but was looking around for matching metal embellishments?

Thanks for dropping by. Happy Chinese New Year to all!

The cute wish juice that I found from Pinterest.

Artful Delight January Sketch Challenge: Sam & Lynn

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Gong Xi Fatt Cai!
I played along with the January sketch challenge by Artful Delight. I made the layout without pictures in Singapore earlier and brought it back to Malaysia just to add the pictures. Luckily I managed to make it (i.e. print the pictures) very very last minute.

Here's the awesome sketch by one of the Delightful Designer Abby:

I didn't have a circle cutter, so I normally use the lace doilies as the circle background. And I flipped the whole sketch horizontally so it doesn't look too similar to my latest layout for Miss Popcorn.

Here's my take on following the sketch:

My bestie, Lynn was suggesting me to scrap a layout using our pictures. Those are pictures were taken in Oct 2010 during our Orientation training. The color of the layout was picked from the green / dark teal color of her floral print dress. I followed the sketch by adding the long stripes and doilies in the background and build my clusters of embellishment from there.

I kind of completed the whole layout in Singapore and added the pictures in Malaysia. I didn't have time to print the pictures as by the time I found out the Sketch Challenge it was a day before my trip back to Hometown. I could not bring my scrapbooking tools + my beloved scissors during my flight back. So i quickly finished the layout and stuff the layout in a box and hand carry it to airport. I couldn't scrap a layout without pictures so I cut two pieces of card stock in 3R sized as photo mat to gauge the placement of my embellishments.

The title says: S & L: Size doesn't matter.
S is initial for my name, Sam while L is initial for her nickname: Lynn. I am petite while she is tall and slender. But we are besties despite difference in our size. We even wore the same high heels when we first met!

I added the bunny stickers from Cosmo Cricket to my blue rosette and it added baby-ish touch to the layout. It also matches my bunny-ears pose in the picture perfectly! And I couldn't help using multicolor buttons as the embellishments.

Those Floral stickers are "Chip 'n Stick from October afternoon. And I cheated by drawing dotted line mimicking sewing stitches to frame the layout. I can't sew with sewing machine and I don't even have one. Maybe one day I would learn it from my mom >_<

Supplies used: White card stock, Chip 'n Stick from October Afternoon - Modern Homemaker, buttons from my stash, AC Thickers, Mini alphabets from Prima, Hambly Screen Prints - Banner, acrylic paint

Thanks for dropping by! XoXo

Frosted Design: Fabulous Friday Challenge - Paint!

I came across Frosted Design Fabulous Friday Challenge 2 days ago and decided to whip up a project just for this challenge. The challenge for this week is PAINT! So I get out my brushes & paint ant get messy! I am also a very very messy scrapbooker who take out all my papers and embellishments to see what goes best with my layout. I also get inspirations by looking at the embellishment.

Okay, here we go! A layout for my mum new (not too new, she has been with us for 4 months!) rescued dog - Miss Popcorn.

This is quite a quick layout that I actually spend 1 1/2 hour doing it. I am obsessed with buttons n Foam Thickers recently. They are just too cute!

Bought this Maya Road Animal print mini sheer last week when the LSS is having sales for Chinese New Year period. I couldn't resist buying those cats & dogs embellishment although I hardly use them.  This LO is so clean as there is no inking / distressing of edges at all. I only layer the patterned papers and embellishment.

Just a little bit of paint wouldn't hurt. Hrm... I am still not good with splashing the paint. It ended up way too made-up.

Real buttons and chipboard/fabric buttons from Little Yellow Bicycle

Place it in the shadow box and gonna bring it back to Kuala Lumpur this Saturday. Mum has been complaining all the dogs have their pictures on the world but not Miss Popcorn. I 'beacon glue' every single embellishment so that they will not fall off after some time.

Supplies used: Patterned paper: Jillibean Soup - Apple Cheddar Soup, MME - Fine & Dandy, Basic Grey - Kissing Booth
Others: white card stock, Maya Road Mini Sheer (Rag Tag Animals), Little Yellow Bicycle - Fabric Favourites, buttons from my stash, AC Thickers - Foam (Daiquiri & Eric), acrylic paint

That's all for now! Thanks for dropping by. Please check out Frosted Design website for other amazing projects created.

Scraplifted LO for My Dearest Papa & Mama

I sort of scrap lifted this layout from Amy Tangerine's LO. Her work is simple & chic. Find some inspirations by read more of her projects here.

This is the original layout created by Amy Tangerine. Click here to find the original post.

Here's my take on scrap lifted hers. Super easy and it only took me 30 minutes to complete the page. One of my fastest LO ever. hahaha. I'm a super slow scrapbooker who take a day or two to complete a single layout.
Super love the smile on my mum & dad's face
I sort of stamping the mug stain by coloring the bottom of the mug with watercolor. I should have used distress ink instead. This is definitely less messy =) Silly me!

My usual have: AC Thickers in foam

My favorite embellishment in the LO. it's like tying the every bits of the layout together, literally. hehehe. And I love how i managed to use those left of scraps from my stash. It's like i made the tag using one the leftover patterned paper from one of the workshop i attended.

I love how well the layout turn out and I will definitely scrap more layout like this in the future. XoXo

For My Fur Friends

I created these two LO with very limited pattern papers & embellishment when I just started scrapbooking in October. I didn't even own a paper trimer and a pair of precision-cut scissors. But creating LO without much skills and limited supplies is challenging yet fun!

This LO was created using the photos of my 3 dogs @ my in-laws place. They were wearing bow ties as they were the best men for my ROM. Of course they were not allowed to go to the Registrar Office. Those pics where taken at home after our solemnization.

These are the 4 girls at my mum's place. Of course, they were dressed up as flower girls with cute lil' flower as their headgear. Cute eh?

Details of the Furever Friends LO:

Not much embellishments, only some stickers and ribbons. I was obsessed with lacey-ribbons when I just started scrapbooking.

More pics of "Flower Gals" LO:
I love this pic. My timid dog Belle hardly shows her smile when she sees my camera.

Buttons and brads as flowers.

Ribbons n ribbons!

By the way, what's the best way of sticking ribbons? I use Beacon glue most of the time but it can get really really messy. So sometimes i use Therm O Web Ultra Strength Zots. Share with me how you stick ribbons on your scrapbook projects. XoXo.

Get Picky January Sketch Challenge #16

Found this Sketch Challenge from Get Picky while I was blog hopping last night. I decided to scrap the remaining pictures of my Universal Studios outing.

I want to create this very very distress look on the paper  by inking and distress the edge with my finger nails. I have also torn two pieces of card stocks and layer them up.

It was fun using acrylic paint on the white card stock. A lot of embellishments (buttons, tickets, wooden spools, clips etc) in this LO and I just kept layering & layering.

I love these Vintage Vogue Wooden Spools from Pink Paisley. They're so adorable!

Blue & Red buttons were used to match the color of the pictures (i.e. Red & blue on Woody Woodpecker and also the roller coaster)

Some tickets were tucked in under the torn White & Pink card stock.
(p.s: Scrapbookers might notice I took pictures of my LO by placing it on my Martha Stewart score board

Supplies used:
Pattern papers: Fancy Pants Design (Off to School), MME (Love Me "Banners"), Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock
Others: Pink Paisley Vintage Vogue Wooden Spools, AC Thickers (Eric - foam), Distress Ink (Brushed Corduroy), Epiphany Crafts Self Adhesive buttons.
