Layout⎪Big Big Thanks *Elle's Studio*

Hi there, I have been trying to blog more, not only with my monthly assignments, and I also want to try sharing more tutorials on making random stuffs and amigurumi, do leave me a comment to to let me know what tutorials do you want me to make ;)

And today I am going to share a layout that I made for my parents (again!) just because they are such awesome grandparents to Ivan. It was a huge decision that we decided to relocate back to our hometown, Kuala Lumpur, last year September. It wasn't a smooth and easy transition for us, but I am quite glad that Ivan gets to grow up in a very very loved environment, that he gets to spend a lot of quality time with the gramps. Trust me, the gramps are way more patient than me when it comes to playing + reading to Ivan. 

When I say the May Digital Cut Files from Elle's Studio, I knew I am gonna make a huge cut file using the word thanks. Instead of using acrylic paints to make paint strokes, I decided to switch things up a little using Faber Castel Gelatos. I try to stick to colours in the picture which are - grey, blue and a lot of green (from Ivan's feeding bib).

This is a pretty simple layout, that I try to focus the layering and added a bunch of embellishments on the top and keep the white space at the bottom. Again, pretty much in love with how the huge cut file *THANKS* remain as the focal point of the layout. Guess I will still keep doing the paint strokes and cut files combination on many of my future layouts until I am sick of it, Lol ;P

I have also added some arrow puffy stickers from my Shop Evalicious stash. I had them sitting on my desk so I just couldn't resist adding them to my page.

Layout⎪Happy Mother's Day To Me + Giveaway Winner *Elle's Studio*

Hello there! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms, grandmas and aunts! Today was a really good day that we woke up early and chill out at a public pool. It was so sunny that I just realised, I didn't get any baby sunblock for Ivan. Just in case you are wondering, he was wearing a neck floatie, that sits right above his shoulders, and he could actually swing his arms and legs while swimming. It does look weird and attracts a lot of attention, but he just loves it! And he has been wearing this since he was 4 months old ;)

Before I go ahead to share my May Layouts for Elle's Studio gallery, here's the awesome May 2014 kit, with a lot of blue and red. And this month, Elle's Studio also came up with a mini special collection - Patriotic kit. Check out the details here.

Since we celebrate Mother's Day in May, so I decided to make a layout for myself, using my favourite photo of us. And I have finally pull out my cameo to make some cut files, using Elle's Studio May digital cut file. I have been lazy using my Cameo for weeks! Wilna's inspirational video really inspires me to play with paints and also my beloved Cameo. 

I make a huge cut file with the 'Just Sayin' speech bubble and wanted to layer it in top of the rainbow paint strokes. I kinda like how the white speech bubble pop up on top of the paint strokes. I only painted the rainbow in six colours, and I realised I needed some green to balance the page, so I pull out some green tags from May Kit to make a complete rainbow. 

I have not dated the layout yet, I have scrapped this page previously, I will just pull out my Project Life album or previous layout to check the date of the photo taken. ;)

Madly in love with this month wood veneer that has this lovely quote: Bloom where you are planted. Super suitable for this layout as we were holding a red carnation in the picture.

And then, I decided to show appreciation to my husband too! So I made a layout of him and Ivan, inspired by the mini Patriotic collection. I don't celebrate Memorial Day in Singapore / Malaysia, but some of the tags and the cut files could be use for our super hero daddy too!

This is a cute photo of my husband and Ivan looking on a notepad, couldn't remember what were they doing, but I just think that this photo is so precious. 

Using May digital cut file, and layer the 'oh, hello; puffy sticker from Shop Evalicious. 

Also added a lot of die cut felts that I made using Craftwell eBosser. I die cut a lot of butterflies and stars with blue and red / pink felt to complete this red & blue layout. Couldn't resist adding more puffy stickers from Shop Evalicious to the banner of this layout ;)

The star wood veneer from the Mini Patriotic collection is too cute!

Tutorial⎪DIY Your Own BookMark for Your Planner

Hello all! Recently I am really obsessed with dolling up my own planners (yes, I have 3 planners and a Midori Traveler's Notebook now), so i decided to share a tutorial on how to make a cute seal bookmark or page marker  for your lovely planner!

I actually made this in 2 different versions, no sew version and the other sew with backstitch. Which one do you prefer?

And now I am going to walk you through on how to make these cuties, in a naggy  errr…I mean in details. So firstly, you would need to download this template and print & cut it out. (To save this template, right click the image and save as…) If you print it 100% on an A4 paper, it measures approximately 2 inch x 1.5 inch. You can definitely print it bigger to make a plushie too!

P.S. I am a total noob in using computer to draw shapes, so I traced this out from a Japanese pattern nook and scan it for ya. The uneven line would not affect your seal-making process ok?

And now, here are the supplies you would need for making your own seal, definitely applicable for making other felt clips too!

1. Felt (any colours + white) 

2. Paper clips

3. Printed Template

4. Scissors

5. Scotch Tape

6. Black embroidery thread and needle

6. Liquid adhesive (for the no-sew version)

7. Polyfil stuffing, thread and needle (for the sew version)

Okay, let's get started. Trace out the template - so you would have a seal and its muzzle.

And this is how I cut out the felt using my template: scotch tape the template on the felt and cut it out.You can also trace the outline on the felt using water erasable marker for fabric. 

Do the same for the white muzzle part.

You would need two pieces of felt for the body and one piece of white muzzle.

Glue the muzzle on the body.

Use pen to mark the eyes and the nose and sew them with a piece of black embroidery thread, using french knot. I used 3 strand of the embroidery floss here.
Do not know how to do a french knot? >> Check out the youtube tutorial here, I wrap twice for the eyes and thrice for the nose.

Once you ar edone, the front and back would look like this. And you are almost there!

Take another piece of body and glue the paper clip down. Apply glue generously then put the piece that you have sew eyes & nose and place on top.

And now you are done! I personally prefer the no-sew version because sewing is really not my forte ;)

And now, let's move on to the Sewing plushie version of bookmark. You would need to do the same for the eyes and the nose form the front piece.

Then you would need to take another piece of the body, sew and secure the paper clip as show below.

Then stack both pieces together, sandwich the paper clip. sew the border using blanket stitch.  Again, totally clueless about making blanket stitch? Check out the tutorial here.

Remember to add a bit of stuffing once you have sew half of the seal. Use tweezer to push the stuffing into the tail and the limbs. Lightly stuff it =)

Continue sewing and stuff your baby seal 2 cm before you reach you first stitch. You might need tweezer (or pen / scissors) to help pushing the polyfil in.

And now you have a cute little seal plushie as you page marker!

I didn't like how the sewing was shown behind the seal after we sew the paperclip, so I die cut small pieces of heart using felt and my eBosser and glue it on the stitching.

It looks so cute with a little heart on the back <3
